I am often asked which is better, studio or in-home sessions, and my answer is both. It comes down to you and what you want out of a session, as well as what will make you and your baby feel most comfortable. I absolutely love in-home sessions. There is a feeling of warmth and coziness that comes from being in your own home. It is a beautiful way to showcase your family’s story right where life happens. At home, natural light can vary depending on the placement and number of windows in a room or around your home. Lighting also depends on the time of day, or even the weather. A gloomy, stormy day isn’t going to have the best natural light filtering in through the windows, and during an in-home session, I depend on it. In the studio, the lighting is always consistent and beautiful. Everything is dialed in so that we always capture those light and airy newborn portraits. It is important to note though, I never expect anyone to create a spotless home before an in-home session.
