One of my favorite parts of this job is the excitement that radiates in a maternity session! Megan and Stephen joined me for an indoor maternity session at my studio in North Dallas to celebrate their baby boy. We hit it off immediately. It was so much fun joining them in their joy and capturing these beautiful memories for them.

Perks of Maternity Sessions

As beautiful as outdoor maternity photos can be, there are many perks for indoors and I’m thrilled Megan chose that option. First and foremost, comfort is key for my expectant mamas. The weather in Dallas is crazy unpredictable, and you never know what you’re getting into with an outdoor session. In the studio, on the other hand, Megan was comfy and cozy the entire time.

Maternity Wardrobe

With wardrobe changes, especially for moms-to-be. It’s so much easier to handle in the comfort of an indoor space instead of in my pop-up tent outside. Megan was able to switch from a gorgeous, flowy maternity gown for a more glamorous touch. To a timeless black bodysuit, along with a couple of other pieces. Each pregnancy is so different and I think it’s important to incorporate different wardrobe pieces in sessions for a variety of photos.

Props and Furniture

Clothes weren’t the only things we switched up! I like to get creative with furniture and props, so we were able to capture some shots of Stephen & Megan cuddling on one of my couches before moving to the window for a few light & airy poses with that adorable baby bump on full display. Isn’t it the cutest? Stephen seemed so proud of his growing baby boy. This was such an elegant maternity session and I can’t get enough of the shots we got. I adore the timeless, gorgeous bright white photos for sessions. Classic neutrals never go out of style. These photos will still be beautiful hanging on the walls of their home for years to come, even when they add others to the mix in the future.

Speaking of additions, I love a studio space when clients have smaller children with them because it’s a smaller space and a little easier for them to manage. I have toys for them to play with that are neutral, of course, just in case they make it into your photos. My goal with every client is to deliver a stress-free, enjoyable experience on top of beautiful images of their loved ones. This is especially true for my maternity clients. Pregnancy is such a beautiful season in a mother’s life that passes so quickly. Both mama and baby deserve to be celebrated!

By the time we wrapped up the session, we felt like new best friends! I’m so glad they chose me to capture such an exciting time in their lives and I can’t wait to capture the arrival of their baby boy soon!
