In-home Lifestyle Newborn Session

I recently captured the Browne family for their Maternity Session in the heat of summer in Texas at Arbor Hills. At the time, Joy was 38 weeks pregnant! Both Joy and her husband were anxiously awaiting the arrival of their son, Declan! Fast forward to a few weeks later when I was able to meet Declan for the first time during their In-home Lifestyle Newborn Session. It was such a joy to meet this adorable baby boy and capture this new family of three!

During Declan’s photo debut, we first dressed him in a dark teal colored onesie that tied at the feet. The color brought out the color of his deep blue eyes, which were open for the majority of our newborn session! Typically, newborns spend their time drifting in and out of sleep when I photograph them. However, this sweet little guy was calm and curious, watching and taking in everything around him. His eyes followed me and my camera around the room in between cuddles and glances at mom and dad.

We did a quick outfit change halfway through, where he was swaddled in a cozy white blanket. The comfort and warmth of the swaddle did put him to sleep, but it was only for a few seconds during one picture! As soon as mom walked back into the room, he woke back up. He always kept his eye on her to make sure she was near.

I love watching new parents with their first born. It is incredibly heartwarming to witness this amazing moment in their lives. Becoming a new parent is unlike any other experience. Bringing home a newborn seems to slow life down as parents take time to fully enjoy and learn their new role.

There is such overwhelming joy and love that is felt during sessions as I watch the sweet interactions of parents with their baby through the lens of my camera. This new mom and dad are already naturals at this parenting thing! It was clear that Declan was most content in the loving arms of his mom and dad.
