There is nothing sweeter than seeing the joy on new parents’ faces as you wrap their newborn up in a swaddle for their first photo session. I love that my job provides the opportunity to document these special moments for families. In my sessions, we always have fun, let the parents get dressed up a bit and capture the sweetness of a newborn baby coming into a family.
First Session in My Home Studio
As an added bonus to this sweet session, it was the first newborn session in my home studio! I love having this option for my clients and myself. The clean white space is the perfect blank space for any session. We can keep it clean or dress it up a bit to fit your personality or the season! We added a neutrally decorated Christmas tree for a bit of added flair and to document the time of year that this sweet girl was born.
Lana’s Newborn Photo Session
Callie and Tyler are the proud new parents of sweet Lana. This sweet family was the perfect introduction to shooting in my home studio. Not only was the blank slate of the studio perfect for a simple shoot, but we added in a Christmas tree in a few shots to document the holiday season that these were taken in. As a result, we ended up with these stunning photos documenting them becoming a family of three.
What to Wear for a Newborn Photo Session
My go to rule for newborn sessions is the simpler the better. This is a time where you already have enough to worry about and the added stress of a huge coordinated session takes the fun out of the special season of life.
FOR BABY: A simple swaddle and one outfit is all you need! Add a bow for your little girl or family heirloom if you have one on hand, but it’s definitely not necessary. If wanting to mix prints into the shoot, a good place to do this is with your babies outfit.
FOR MOM: Moms who sign up for sessions with me, don’t need to worry about what to wear. Did you know I have a client closet? It’s filled with multiple options for a new mom – different styles, sizes and color schemes!
FOR DAD: Focus on something comfortable! Something solid and within the color scheme is important, but it can be something that you already have at home.
